CANDY COASTER
Themed Roller Coaster Concept [2024]

ROLL UP! ROLL UP!
All aboard The Great Candy Coaster - the latest invention by Prof. Sherbet Fizz. It’s sure to send you fizzing and whizzing into an out-of-this-world adventure!
MOOD BOARDS

The first stage of the project involved creating an array of mood boards to capture the feeling and visual style of each element of the attraction. Displayed as part of a 22 page theme book.
At its core the theme offers a chance for visitors to be shrunk down to a miniature scale, discovering a vivid fairytale kingdom. The Candy Coaster offers its inhabitants the journey of a lifetime - into the next great frontier, on a mission across the Candy Cosmos!
ATTRACTION ENTRANCE

The entrance façade is comprised of a multi-coloured glass window designed to look like a collection of large sweet wrappers with a lollipop stick frame. Further oversized props within the construction of the sign sell the illusion of being shrunk down.
TRACK DESIGN

The track is themed to appear as if held up by an array of larger-than-life objects, with the supports for the coaster to resemble large pencils. Key track sections over pathways would feature additional themed structures alongside to resemble bridge-like structures of matchsticks, straws and lollipop sticks.
TRAIN DESIGN

The individual cars are modelled to look like large matchboxes; each with its own unique graphic applied alongside additional large scale themed elements which form wheels and other decorative elements.
THE STATION

Guests pass through a corridor packed with blueprints - all which the professor believed unlocked the secret of space travel... A toaster? Not quite! A mouse trap? Definitely not. The station is dressed as a large chocolate box, with air gates themed as playing cards. Lollipop traffic lights signal the start of the adventure... OFF WE GO!
BACKGROUND
The Candy Coaster concept was developed as a fan-made, theoretical addition to Sundown Adventureland; the place that truly got me into theme parks! As part of this, I considered how this project would blend within an existing area of the park, considering wider land creative opportunities.
